We are able to offer a comprehensive GIS data processing and gridding service for those clients who wish to purchase or gather their own data, but would prefer that someone else converted it into a usable model. We are experienced in the entire process from data processing through to final visual output. The sort of process often undertaken for clients might follow the examples below (click on each small image for a larger version).

The data processing and gridding process usually starts with contour data, or point cloud data in some sort of format, be it binary or text-based in nature. We support a wide variety of formats, so please contact us to see if we might be able to help with your data processing needs. Once imported and cleaned up, the dataset resembles that shown in the top image (in this case, XYZ grid data)

We then process this data into a terrain mesh consisting of triangles or polygons. This second image is an example of this "gridded" mesh rendered with a simple diffuse grey colour. Regardless of the resolution of the input grid, this output mesh can be gridded at whatever resolution is required. Interpolating the dataset in this way to reduce or increase data resolution will obviously introduce errors into the original dataset. By liasing closely with the client, we are able to investigate what would be the best resolution dataset for the project

Once in the form of a terrain mesh, the model can be visualised in a number of ways. Either with simple hypsographic shaders (as in this third example)

or with more realistic image drapes and/or foliage (as in this last example)

 

Using a range of GIS software tools we are able to perform a number of other GIS tasks, such as custom heightfield editing, image mosaicing, data reprojection, vector digitizing, and so forth.
